I’m Lakin Imani Starling. A Philadelphia-raised, Brooklyn-based writer and creative with 10+ years of storytelling.

My roots begin with my early career as a music and culture journalist. Then a creative shift happened, and I was called to discover how else I could bring stories to life. That exploration has led me to roles as a senior copywriter, editorial lead, content producer, digital showrunner, documentary development writer, video and audio scriptwriter, and more.

I’ve melded my creative worlds by using my strong understanding of what it takes to build stories across culture, lifestyle, beauty, film, and tech. From in-depth profiles rooted in empathy and human experience to strategy-driven creative + copy for brands like Bose, Nike, Netflix, and HBO Max.
